
A form of high-temperature corrosion of chromium-bearing alloys in which green chromium oxide (Cr
2O
3) forms, but certain other alloy constituents remain metallic; some simultaneous carburization is sometimes observed.

A form of high-temperature attack on stainless steels,nickel-chromium alloys and nickel-chromium iron alloys subjected to simultaneois oxidation and carburization. Basically, attack occurs by first precipitating chromium as chromium carbide, then oxidizing the caarbide particles.
